Adults do not listen to kids they think they are different because of their height and life experience. Adults think they know lots more.
Purpose:
Adults do not listen to kids because they think they are different because of their appearance and life experience therefore adults think they know lots more. The purpose is to help us realize that kids should be heard because they are actually smarter than what we think they are. We should listen to them because we don’t know when we are wrong and they are right.
A film technique used is lighting.
This is used by placing the kids in the light and the adults in the dark. Used most
of the time when the kids are around Mr Poe or the authorities not around Count
Olaf. This shows us that the kids are right because we usually associate light with being
correct and dark being incorrect. We also associate the light with brightness as
in smart bright
They have done this to make us think that the kids are smarter and brighter than the adults so that kids are right not always the adults.
Costume is another film technique used.
The kids costumes have colour
and are quite clean and strait, the colours are blue and pink and green. Mixed
with dark colours. This shows us they are more creative than the adults and we associate colour with
children and being creative other than dull and cold colours like black and grey in the adults clothing. The director has done this to show us that kids are more creative than adults and when we grow up adults lose their creativity and become boring. So the kids might see things in a different way making them think outside the box.
The event when Sunny plays with the snake.
What happened ?
Sunny stood up to the authorities by proving Count Olaf wrong and proved that he
must have killed uncle Monty because he lied about the deadly viper being vicious and killing him instead it is playing with Sunny and being friendly like a dog.
Film Techniques:
How Sunny is in the light and the authorities are I the dark. We associate dark with being wrong and light being the right way like you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Analyse:
This helps us understand that the authorities are wrong. This again develops the idea of kids being right and adults are not always correct. That they shouldn't listen or trust anyone all the time.
Beyond the text thinking
Being a kid it is harder to get adults attention so I can relate to a series of
unfortunate events in the thought that adults hardly listen to what you have to
say sometimes. They also tell you that you are just a child and don’t understand
when really we know quite well what is going on. I think adults are like this
because they have had more life experience than us kids and think that we are
not a smart and not as mature in the body size and mental size. Which
is true to some degree but we do hear things and understand what is going
on.
